DT SERIES INKS

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

DT series inks are highly transparent Dye based inks formulated for gravure surface printing onto a range of foils and paper. DT inks are suitable for printing onto some good quality unwashed foils and metallized films.

SUBSTRATES:

DT series inks have good adhesion, printability and transparency on a range of foils and paper. They may also have adhesion on some grades of unwashed foil and metallised film. However, this usually requires the substrate to be fresh and of good quality.

PROPERTIES:

DT series inks have good scuff and abrasion resistance on a range of substrates. They will give good colour strength at normal printing viscosities. DT series inks are not heat resistant and are not suitable for printing in heat seal areas. Colours will have a reasonable degree of light fastness, but may not withstand prolonged exposure to sunlight. Dye based inks are not generally regarded as having high lightfastness. For applications requiring this property pigment based inks would normally be supplied with high fastness properties. Requirements should be specified at time of ordering. DT series inks are not suitable for lamination.

PRESS CONDITIONS:

DT series inks can be printed at most printing speeds without problem. Where fast print speeds are used, it is recommended that efficient drying units, chill rollers, and low rewind tensions are utilised.

REDUCERS:

The recommended reducers for DT series inks are: Normal: Iso propyl alcohol/Toluene 2:1. Retarder : Maximum 5% glycol ether.

WASH UP:

IPA/Toluene blends.
