ERB
INK SERIES
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
ERB waterbased inks are formulated for flexo printing of carton board
substrates which will be subsequently overcoated with polyethene for production
of liquid packaging cartons.
SUBSTRATES:
ERB inks may be used for printing of uncoated and claycoated carton
board for production of liquid packaging cartons.
PROPERTIES:
Good Printability Low foaming potential Low odour High colour strength
at low viscosity Water reducible Accepts polythene extrusion coating Colours
have reasonable degree of light fastness but may not withstand extended
exposure to sunlight. If improved lightfastness is required this should
be specified at time of order.
PRESS CONDITION:
ERB inks can be printed at a range of printing speeds up to 400 m/min.
However, being waterbased products care must be taken to ensure adequate
drying at these speeds and that ink pumping and circulation systems do
not cause foaming by excessive agitation of the ink. Rubber or photopolymer
plates may be used Mild steel rollers should not be used as these are
liable to rust.
REDUCERS:
Reduce with water only to printing viscosity.
WASH UP:
Water is normally used. However, if inks have been allowed to dry on
the rollers or stereos, glycol ethers or mild alkali solution may be necessary
to fully remove dried ink. To avoid "drying in", inking and anilox rollers
should be kept turning at all times and stereos should be washed with
water on press stoppages.
STORAGE:
Being waterbased ERB inks are not considered highly inflammable.
ERB inks should not be allowed to freeze.
Note:
This information has been carefully compiled from experience gained in
field conditions and detailed laboratory testing. However, the product's
performance and it's suitability for the customer's purchase depend on
the particular conditions of use and the material being printed. We recommend
that customers satisfy themselves that each product meets their requirements
in all respects before commencing a print run. Since we cannot anticipate
or control the conditions under which our products are used, it is not
possible to guarantee their performance. We would point out that the information
provided here is only a recommendation, and may need to be altered to
suit the conditions and efficiency of the equipment employed. Coates Lorilleux
ink products are not designed for use in conjunction with those of any
other ink-maker or similar supplier unless agreed to in writing.
