PRIMANOVA PROCESS INKS

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

SUBSTRATES:

Printability is good on a wide range of coated and uncoated paper and board. The inks are not designed for use on non-absorbent substrates such as metallized paper and plastics.

PRESS PERFORMANCE:

Primanova inks give trouble free printing with a wide range of founts and Iso Propanol contents . The inks have extended press stability that can eliminate the need for overnight duct wash-up.

SETTING AND STACK PERFORMANCE:

Primanova inks are fast setting, allowing minimum use of spray powder, although work with high coverage or highly coated stocks will require extra care. The inks have excellent fast work and turn properties with good gloss, allowing quick turn round of jobs.

DRYING:

Drying is quick and effective with or without IR assistance. If this is used we would suggest keeping stack temperatures below 40 °C, to avoid re-softening of the inks.

RUB RESISTANCE:

Primanova inks will give satisfactory scuff resistance on a wide range of substrates. However, some materials are very aggressive, and where no protective varnish is to be used, the printer should be satisfied that abrasion resistance will be adequate, or obtain advice from Coates Lorilleux.

VARNISH AND LAMINATION:

Varnishing with offset, spirit and water based varnishes is possible. However, attention should be given to the resistance properties of the inks used, and the varnishing done under controlled conditions. Work should be thoroughly aired before spirit varnishing or laminating. Specific requirements should be given to Coates Lorilleux when ordering.

LIGHTFASTNESS:

Primanova inks have a reasonable degree of light fastness, but Yellow and Magenta may not withstand prolonged exposure to sunlight. If highly lightfast inks are required this should be specified at time of ordering.

OTHER RESISTANCE PROPERTIES:

The pigments used are not necessarily resistant to all post printing conditions that may be encountered. Thus, if specific properties are required, such as soap resistance; this should be specified at time of order .

FOUNT SOLUTION:

We recommend that manufactures instructions are followed when using fount additives, and that Isopropanol content is not more than 15%. The PH and conductivity should be monitored and the PH not be allowed to drop below 4.5. Damper settings should also be kept at the minimum for clean printing. Excessive or very acidic fount can retard inks drying, giving poor scuff resistance or set off. The fount and press temperature should also be controlled to avoid over emulsification.

BLANKETS & ROLLERS:

Any oil resistant blanket and synthetic rubber or polyurethane rollers are suitable for use with Primanova inks.

INK ADJUSTMENT:

Primanova inks are supplied press ready. However, if consistency or tack must be adjusted, small amounts of suitable reducers can be added. Additions should not be more than 5% of the ink.

WASH UP:

White petrol can be used, although specialized cleaners may prolong the life of blankets and rollers. Although under normal conditions the inks will be overnight duct stable, we do recommend daily cleaning of rollers and blankets.

Note:

This information has been carefully compiled from experience gained in field conditions and detailed laboratory testing. However, the product's performance and it's suitability for the customer's purchase depend on the particular conditions of use and the material being printed. We recommend that customers satisfy themselves that each product meets their requirements in all respects before commencing a print run. Since we cannot anticipate or control the conditions under which our products are used, it is not possible to guarantee their performance. We would point out that the information provided here is only a recommendation, and may need to be altered to suit the conditions and efficiency of the equipment employed.
