RF SERIES INKS

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

RF series inks are formulated for rotogravure surface printing onto a range of films, paper and foil.

SUBSTRATES:

RF series inks have good adhesion on treated Polypropylene and Polythene. To ensure good adhesion the minimum treatment should be 38 to 41 dynes/cm. RF inks are also suitable for printing onto a washed foil and paper. Certain types of unwashed foil can also be printed, but careful adhesion checks should be undertaken before printing as printability can vary considerably.

PROPERTIES:

RF series inks have good adhesion on a range of substrates giving good scuff and abrasion resistance. RF series inks are not heat reistant and should not be printed in the heat seal areas. Colours will have a reasonable degree of light fastness, but may not withstand prolonged exposure to sunlight. If light fast inks are required this should be stated at time of ordering. RF inks may not be resistant to all post printing conditions encounterd. Special requirments should be notified at time of order. RF series inks are not suitable for lamination.

PRESS CONDITIONS:

RF series inks can be printed at most printing speeds without problem. Where fast print speeds are used, it is recommended that efficient drying units and chill rollers are utilised. High rewind tensions are not recommended.

REDUCERS:

The recommended reducers for RF series inks are: Normal: Iso propyl alcohol/Toluene 2:1

Retarder: Glycol ether maximum 5 %. WASH UP Alcohol/Toluene blends.

WASH UP:

Alcohol/Toluene blends
