RA SERIES INKS

TECHINICAL INFORMATION

RA series inks are formulated for rotogravure surface printing onto PVC Film for twist wrap and shrinkable sleeving. Typical applications are in confectionery packing and shrink sleeves for beverage bottles.

SUBSTRATES:

RA series inks have excellent adhesion on PVC film.

PROPERTIES:

  • Excellent adhesion, giving scuff and abrasion resistance.

  • Good colour strength at normal ink film weight.

  • Colours have reasonable degree of light fastness but may not withstand extended exposure to sunlight. If improved light fastness is required this should be specified at time of order.

  • RA series inks are not suitable for lamination and are not heat resistant.

PRESS CONDITIONS:

RA series inks can be printed at most printing speeds without problems. Where fast print speeds are used, it is recommended that efficient drying units and chill rollers are used to avoid the possibility of blocking. High re-wind tension is not recommended.

END USE:

RA series inks are suitable for outside surface printing for food packaging. However, they are not suitable for reverse printing where this would give direct contact with foodstuffs. Please contact Coates Lorilleux if further advice is required.

REDUCERS:

The recommended reducers for RA series inks are: Fast: Ethyl acetate Slow: Ethyl acetate : Toluene 75 : 25. The use of slow solvents should be kept to the minimum to avoid the possibility of solvent retention and blocking.

WASH UP:

Ethyl acetate
